Here is a sneak-peek of what may or may not happen during our night shoot on Thursday involving a model, cut paper and long exposures.
Interim update: Colorado's Great Sand Dunes National Park
coloradoCommentHere is a late afternoon shot. More night shots to come as I process film and RAW files
Sunset at Great Sand Dunes National Park
coloradoCommentAs I woke form my 3-hour nap in the car, I caught this gorgeous sunset with rainstorm and double rainbows. Enjoy large.
Tashi Gomang Stupa
coloradoCommentI was fortunate to have a small adventure as a side trip on my way down the the Great sAnd Dunes National Park. I met a wonderful, friendly fellow traveler in a coffee shop who invited me to lunch in Crestone, CO. After lunch, we headed out past all of the religious retreats along the base of the mountain and up to the Tashi Gomang Stupa - a Tibetian Retreat that overlooks the stunning view of the valley valley below.
I'm an atheist and found this to be a fortunate place to find inspiration and gratitude. Worth a side trip if you are passing through. Take an SUV, 4-wheel drive or expect a good hike up there :)
Downtown Denver at Night on film
coloradoCommentI finally got some of my black-and-white 4x5" images back. These are photographs of them, not scans. 4th of July from our balcony:

Matt's Birthday: Shoot at Star Bar
coloradoComment37 is a prime number. It is the first irregular prime.
You should not try and figure out what the point of irregular primes might be. It doesn't mean anything.
But Matt is irregular and prime, so 37 is a good age.
We celebrated the very beginning of Matt's birthday by Making Art. That is, a photo shoot at Star Bar, where Britt makes her magic.
Here is a bit of Britt's Magic.
This is Ian. One of our photo subjects.
This is the site of our shoot. Ian has a large head.
These are all of our subjects! Thanks everyone and happy birfday!
Night Photography in Denver - Platte River / Speer Blvd
coloradoCommentI shot this as a digital test last night. I made 3 more 4x5 exposures after this - sending out for processing today.
$11.25 goes a lot further in Denver
coloradoCommentSo, we found My Brother's Bar earlier. But it became out favorite last night. Four or five Stranahans, two 90 Shillings, a Jameson... wow.
Star Bar: Britt Redux
colorado, on the roadCommentI met Britt back in February. She's saucy. She's an incredible mixologist. Her superpower is to get me to shut up with just a glance. I'm not going to lie. Getting a little intertwined whilst fixing the ceiling fan was a little ... something. Too bad the fan blade clocked me in the head and knocked me out.
This is Britt's default gesture.
Rules of the Road Trip: Cyrano De Bergerac Edition
colorado, on the roadCommentWe met Mary McPoppinson at Biker Jim's Hot Dog stand. She was chowing down on her dog and hoping to join our conversation while pretending to read a Westword.
She got a little too familiar quickly. She was texting a "friend" of hers and I offered to help.
Look closely at my sent message.
Rule #113: If a stranger offers to help you compose your thoughts via SMS, run screaming.
